We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to drive sales within the Scottish region.  The BDM will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, as well as managing relationships with existing and potential clients. 

This is a permanent, full-time position. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Management and retention of Sigmat's client portfolio 
  • Sell Sigmat solutions and obtain specification through Developers, Housing Associations, Main Contracts, Architects and their design teams 
  • Project tracking all quotations and specifications using CRM until close, identifying when orders will be placed and sales values 
  • Arrange CPD seminars with Developers, Housing Associations, Architects and Contractors 
  • Manage the full end-to-end process with our customers 
  • Drive service performance and enhance margins 
  • Liaise with Operational Management to recommend new workable initiatives 
  • Analyse and implement change through our business and our customers' business 
  • Drive margin improvement through strong commercial acumen 
  • Carry out any other task commensurate with this post

What we are looking for: 

  • Previous experience in an account management role is essential 
  • Experience in the steel industry would be a distinct advantage 
  • Experience of operational cost, commercial profitability and P&L
  • Ability to work under own initiative, self-motivated, often working some unsociable hours which will include travel 
  • Ability to upsell and cross-sell 
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen 
  • Relationship building skills 
  • Experience of procurement and tender processes 
  • Must be articulate and comfortable dealing with people at all levels
  • Hold a valid driving licence
