Fabricator Welder Leeds Manufacturing & Factory Permanent, full time 18/06/2020

Working out of our Leeds factory, the role holder will need to ensure materials are fabricated and welded correctly in accordance with the Sigmat Quality Manual.

This is a permanent, full time position.

What the role involves : 

Safety

  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner
  • Report any accident or dangerous occurrence immediately to a supervisor
  • Ensure all PPE is used and kept in a good condition suitable for the work being carried out

Service to Production

  • Ability to create a product from an engineering drawing
  • Ensure product is produced correctly in accordance with the drawings issued, with the relevant timescale and programmes
  • Safe and efficient use of all machinery including overhead crane, drills, guillotine, press brake and other machines which you have been trained to use correctly
  • Removal and disposal of all waste into identified area/bins
  • Clearing of finished goods from area, ensuring goods are correctly identified as per the Sigmat Quality Manual
  • Ensure quality checks are carried out at designated intervals
  • Cleaning and general service of machinery at stated intervals

Packaging

  • Identify, segregate and package finished goods in accordance to the Sigmat Quality Manual
  • Ensure method and quality of packaging will minimise damage to the product, and contribute to safety during subsequent handling operations

General

  • Maintain general departmental housekeeping - ensure floors and gangways are kept in a tidy and safe condition
  • Must be civil, courteous and co-operative to colleagues, clients and suppliers
  • Maintain a standard of dress and personal hygiene acceptable to the company
  • Keep workplace clean, tidy, orderly at all times and safe for other members of staff to use
  • Promote the company at all times
  • Any other general duties within the capability of the job holder, which may be determined from, time to time by his/her supervisor

Qualifications/Experience :

  • Fabrication/welding experience is essential
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in a team and as an individual
  • Familiar with structural steel and staircases (desirable)
  • Good communicator
  • GCSE level or equivalent
