Manufacturing Manager Leeds Manufacturing & Factory Permanent, full-time 25/06/2020

Reporting into the Manufacturing Director, the role holder will be responsible for the leadership and daily management of the manufacturing facility and all reports, including health and safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement, training and employee development. 

This is a permanent, full time position.

What the role involves : 

  • Implement operational plans and provide leadership for area of responsibility
  • Ensure all operatives and team leaders are competent and properly trained for the task that they are carrying out 
  • Ensure that all personnel work is complete and behavioural safety, and comply with all health and safety procedures 
  • Ensure that operator competency is verified, checked and certified where necessary 
  • Ensure all personnel work to currently quality requirements and Factory Manual 
  • Implement change in accordance with the Company's continuous improvement expectations 
  • Maintain high standards of personal conduct in respect of health and safety, setting an example for others to follow
  • Monitor productivity and efficiency and make necessary interventions when necessary 
  • Ensure that there are sufficient First Aiders and Fire Wardens in place, and that they are competent 
  • Critical performance measures include:
    • HSE 
    • Productivity targets 
    • Continuous improvements 
    • Employee engagement 
    • QA/QC compliance 
    • Financial targets 
  • Any other tasks commensurate with this post

What we are looking for :

  • Proven leadership/management experience within a manufacturing industry 
  • Experience of working with steel forming or fabrication would be preferable 
  • HND or degree qualified, or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or a willingness to be trained in this) 
  • A dynamic individual with a 'can do,' results driven approach and attitude 
  • Good communication skills 
  • A willingness to continually improve and develop 
  • A good level of commercial awareness 
  • The ability to think analytically and strategically 
  • Experience of using data to drive and demonstrate improvements in the workplace 
  • A hands-on approach to problem solving
