Meet Aneta, Graduate Engineer at Sigmat.
Tell us a bit about your background before joining Sigmat.
I joined Sigmat straight from graduating from Leeds Beckett with a BSc in Civil Engineering.
I wanted to work in steel design when I graduated, and I knew someone at Sigmat which had a good reputation and was highly recommended to me.
What training opportunities have you had at Sigmat?
Training is continual here which is great, for example auto-CAD training with an external provider. There is a lot of opportunity to take responsibility to work on large / full projects here which is also a great learning opportunity.
How would you describe Sigmat’s culture?
Sigmat has a diverse culture. Everyone is really really laid back despite tight deadlines and long hours you never feel the tension. Everyone is really friendly, approachable and can have a laugh in the office. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable.
What do you like about Sigmat and what we do?
Sigmat is highly adaptable, it's an interesting company that responds to the market demand. We invest in R&D and how to improve and develop within the company.
What’s the best part of working for Sigmat?
For me, Sigmat has been a great the opportunity to complete my Masters alongside work. I'm lucky that Sigmat is so flexible with time off to attend lectures, flexible start and finishing times and also the financial support.
I'm studying Structural Engineering at Leeds uni which I'm due to finish next year.
Although I haven't tried it myself, I think it's great that there is the opportunity to spend time working in different departments such as estimating, site or the factory. It's a great way to learn and gain a better understanding of how the other departments work.
How do you like to spend your spare time?
I like to cook, meet friends and go out, do any hair care related activity.
