Regional Health & Safety Advisor Midlands and the South Managerial & Admin Permanent, full time 18/10/2019

We are currently looking to recruit a health and safety advisor for the midlands and southern regions. The role holder will support the SHEQ Manager and the wider business in the identification, management and control of SHEQ related risks across all our construction sites in the region.

This is a permanent, full time position.

What the role involves : 

  • Provide competent health, safety and environmental advice to meet all appropriate legal and internal standards 
  • Carry out site health & safety audits
  • Assist site management in the development of site safety action plans relevant to the safety issues/risks identified
  • Report on key issues and progress on actions
  • Provide information, advice, guidance and support to managers
  • Assist and support site management in the investigations into relevant accidents and High Potential incidents
  • Analyse accident and incident performance for the patterns and trends and advise management on appropriate corrective actions
  • Assist operational teams with emergency planning and arrangements, including testing of emergency plans
  • Assist operational teams in driving safety performance and safety culture by building safety into processes
  • Monitor the outputs from audits/inspections/reviews and any corrective actions raised
  • Identify any gaps in the Integrated Management System (IMS) and support in developing these areas
  • Any other task commensurate with this post

What we are looking for :

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety as a minimum
  • Solid experience in a health, safety and environment advisory role
  • Construction industry experience is essential
  • Experience in working with cranes and lifting operations
  • Strong accident and incident investigation skills
  • Experience in the delivery of health and safety related training
  • Ability to work on own initiative and autonomously
  • Engaging and influencing at all levels within the business
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft Office packages
  • Good presentation skills
