We are currently looking to recruit a Research & Development (R&D) Manager. The role holder will drive technical developments within the business, both in our current portfolio and new product development.

This is a permanent, full time position.

What the role involves : 

  • Adherence to the Integrated Management System
  • Proactively researching current product design evolution
  • Create and develop relationships with technical experts within existing or potential suppliers, accreditation authorities, consultants, universities, test facilities etc.
  • Proactively researching new product development and innovation
  • Formulate strategies and action plans based on research outcomes
  • Implement agreed projects and action plans and establish mechanisms for continuous improvement
  • Regularly analyse performance data and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Lead cross-functional project teams from all invested and relevant parties, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Regularly report on departmental measures agreed with R&D Director
  • Promote technical excellence in R&D and innovation, keeping up to date with new technologies and opportunities and updating colleagues where necessary
  • Update and maintain technical documentation
  • Managing testing and other research activities including structural, fire & acoustic testing
  • Keeping colleagues informed of important and relevant developments including changes in legislation to make sure that the objectives of the company and client are achieved
  • Representing Sigmat at meetings as required
  • Undertaking site visits to generate further product improvement goals
  • Any other task commensurate with this post

What we are looking for :

  • Experience in a similar role is essential
  • Experience in the construction industry is essential
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Building Regulations
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of construction details & interfaces
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of manufacturing processes for offsite construction
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of onsite construction processes
  • Broad range of engineering skills
  • Ability with CAD software (AutoCAD)
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and alongside colleagues
  • CSCS card holder
  • Valid UK driving license
