We are currently looking to recruit a Site Manager into Central West Scotland, with the opportunity to be based anywhere in the UK. The role holder will be assigned to a live project to work on our light gauge steel frame build programme, ensuring that schemes are delivered on time and on budget whilst always maintaining the high quality with which our brand is associated.

This is a permanent, full time position.

What the role involves : 

  • Ensure correct PPE is available for site operations and that it is used correctly by the operatives
  • Ensure that correct equipment/plant required to do the work onsite is supplied and within budget to achieve the agreed programme
  • Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained on site at all times, and that Sigmat employees and sub-contractors use the correct and safe working practices 
  • Adhere to the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Assist Contracts Manager in compiling detailed site programme to suit Sigmat and client requirements
  • Assist Contracts Manager to establish manning and equipment levels required to achieve site programme
  • Establish crane requirements to construct programme - including usage for unloading, distributing and erecting the structure. Agree crane access and position with client.
  • Prepare job specific method statements, risk assessments, manual handling, COSHH reports, and crane lifting plan and agree with client 
  • Ensure method statement is updated and current document kept on site at all times
  • Establish and maintain a good professional working relationship at site level with the client
  • Compile and advise site delivery requirements to Production Manager and Project Coordinator / Buyer prior to project
  • Liaise with Production Manager and Project Coordinator / Buyer during work onsite
  • Carry out site inductions to method statements with all Sigmat employees and sub-contractor labour and trades at the start and throughout the duration of the works onsite
  • Carry out and maintain records for weekly toolbox talks with Sigmat employees and sub-contractors onsite
  • Compile and maintain a site file for daily labour return, advising hours worked 
  • Compile and maintain a site file for daily register for Sigmat equipment and ensure all tests are in date and maintained
  • Maintain hired-in equipment register
  • Complete a daily site diary of work carried out and relevant events that have affected operation on site. Diary to be summarised at the end of each week indicating position to the agreed programme
  • Issue a copy of all register / diaries etc. along with all dockets and delivery notes
  • Liaise with all sub-contractors to ensure they have the correct resource levels to complete their work safely to the agreed programme
  • Coordinate daily operation requirements with clients and other trades onsite
  • Implement and manage additional snagging and variation work to suit the site requirements
  • Coordinate with Design and Production over the detail and delivery and sort additional site resource to carry out the work as economically as possible
  • Report and record all errors found onsite and communicate the matter to the relevant department and establish the correct form of rectification
  • Attend site meetings with clients and trades as requested. Keep meeting notes and communicate any actions back to Contracts Manager / Design team / Drawing Office and Production
  • Train and mentor Assistant Site Managers
  • Any other task commensurate with this post

What we are looking for :

  • Experience in a similar role is essential
  • Must hold a valid CSCS card
  • Good business knowledge and awareness
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proficient in IT including MS Office and system use
  • Working knowledge of finance
