We are currently looking to recruit a Structural Engineer.  This role can either be based at our office in Worcestershire (WR10) or Skipton (BD23).  The role holder will lead on structural design elements on projects as required, in a client facing engineering role. 

This is a permanent, full time position.

Your key responsibilities : 

  • Adherence to the Integrated Management System 
  • Undertaking concept designs and planning at concept stage on a wide variety of buildings 
  • Responsibility for the production of structural engineering calculations for light gauge steel frames, associated hot rolled members and composite floor slabs 
  • Delivering excellent project work within agreed deadlines and budget
  • Interact and cultivate relations with clients and other project members 
  • Keeping colleagues informed of important and relevant design decisions to make sure that the objectives of the company and client are achieved 
  • Representing Sigmat at meetings with client and suppliers 
  • Assisting and mentoring of graduate engineers 
  • Undertaking site visits as and when required 
  • Any other tasks commensurate with this post  

What we are looking for : 

  • Experience as a lead structural engineer on projects 
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of current codes of practice 
  • Experience of light gauge steel design is preferred but not essential
  • Broad range of engineering skills
  • Comfortable undertaking hand calculations and using spreadsheets as standard, but able to demonstrate ability to use 3D modelling software.  Working knowledge of Trimble design software (Tekla Structural Designer) would be beneficial 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and alongside senior engineers and the external design team to provide engineering solutions 
  • Bachelor’s degree BEng / BSc or Master’s degree MEng / MSc that meets the engineering academic requirements for Chartership
  • Working towards Chartership
  • CSCS card holder
  • Full clean UK driving licence
