Robert is Sigmat’s independent Chairman and boasts 30 years' experience in the construction and engineering sectors. A Fellow of both Gray's Inn and the Institute of Chartered Accountants he has, over his career, been a Director and Managing Director of a number of private and public limited companies and in addition, has held Non Exec Directorships of public sector bodies such as the Ministry of Defence’s DIO. Currently Robert holds five Chairmanships but still finds time for playing tennis, golf, and the occasional ski trip with his wife and two sons.
Mark has been Managing Director and CEO of a number of different businesses across a wide range of sectors, but has spent the last 15 years leading businesses in the construction and construction related industries.
Chief Financial Officer
Matthew joined Sigmat in 2017 following a 12 year career in corporate finance at Rothschild. Whilst heading up Finance, HR and IT functions, his expert knowledge of Mergers & Acquisitions, capital markets and corporate strategy is central to Sigmat’s growth ambitions. He is an Ernst & Young qualified Chartered Accountant with a strong engineering background, holding a Master’s Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from the University of Manchester (UMIST). Matthew is an avid ‘petrolhead’, fitness fanatic and enjoys golf, football and fishing
Chief Operating Officer
Marcus has enjoyed senior leadership and commercial positions as a client PQS, main contractor and specialist sub-contractor within the general construction, civil, water, aviation and rail industries, and brings a broad range of knowledge, skills and experience to the management team. Sigmat successes include cultural and structural change, implementation of Best Practice delivery processes, “win win” commercial strategies and avoidance of disputes, creation of market leading professional standards and exceptional performance. Marcus’ responsibilities cover the Work Winning, Design/detailing, Operational and Commercial team activities.
Paul is time served in joinery and carpentry, having completed his apprenticeship with the family business in 1986. He is approaching his 23rd year in management, specialising in the perfect delivery of Light Gauge Steel Framing [LGSF] systems. After leaving his position as Managing Director of the largest LGSF delivery company in the UK, he started his own business focusing on perfect delivery of LGSF systems in Scotland, building and maintaining business to business relationships which remain strong two decades on. Paul merged his business with Sigmat in 2014 and currently fills the role of Construction Director. Along with the wider team, he prides himself on delivering perfect health & safety, quality and programme to the client. Paul is a full member of the CIOB, is married with three adult children and has interests in football, reading and countryside dog walking.
Research & Development Director
Clive has been working in the steel construction industry for 30 years and specialised in cold formed structures following his graduation from the University of Warwick. In his early career he worked as a Structural Engineer designing medium rise steel framed buildings. He became a Chartered Engineer in December 2000 following successful election to Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers. During his career he has held a number of senior positions including Operations Director and Technical Director. Throughout he has worked at the forefront of technology for loadbearing cold formed steel structures including structural, fire, acoustic and thermal performance. Clive has a young family which more or less absorbs his time away from the office.
Design Director North
Anthony joined Sigmat in 2010 following a two year stint in the Structural Engineering department at WYG. Graduating from Newcastle University with a Masters in Civil & Structural Engineering, Anthony has a wealth of experience in LGSF having personally designed over 20 LGSF buildings varying from 1 storey to 12 storeys right across the UK including Byron House Nottingham, the only LGSF frame that has an intentional leaning façade and subsequently announced as winner of the RICS Project of the Year.
Anthony now manages the Sigmat design team, split across three sites in the UK, heavily focused on successful delivery of high specification LGSF projects and transfer structures.
Anthony has a young family and spends every spare moment, weekend or evening, renovating his house.
James has been working within the structural steel industry for 24+ years. An experienced Director Of Estimating specialising in Engineering, Cost Management, Project Estimation, Cost Engineering, and Quantity Surveying.
Prior to graduating from Civil & Structural Engineering with honours from Bradford University, James worked for 2.5 years in Singapore as Setting Out Engineer and later moved on to work for a Tier 1 Main Contractor as Senior Site Engineer.
James is married, has 3 children and a keen interest in Motorsport, craft beers and archery.
