Paul is time served in joinery and carpentry, having completed his apprenticeship with the family business in 1986. He is approaching his 23rd year in management, specialising in the perfect delivery of Light Gauge Steel Framing [LGSF] systems. After leaving his position as Managing Director of the largest LGSF delivery company in the UK, he started his own business focusing on perfect delivery of LGSF systems in Scotland, building and maintaining business to business relationships which remain strong two decades on. Paul merged his business with Sigmat in 2014 and until September 2021 filled the role of Construction Director, until his promotion to Managing Director. Along with the wider team, he prides himself on delivering perfect health & safety, quality and programme to the client. Paul is a full member of the CIOB, is married with three adult children and has interests in football, reading and countryside dog walking.
Commercial Director / Head of Commercial UK&I
Marcus has enjoyed senior leadership and commercial positions as a client PQS, main contractor and specialist sub-contractor within the general construction, civil, water, aviation and rail industries, and brings a broad range of knowledge, skills and experience to the management team. Sigmat successes include cultural and structural change, implementation of Best Practice delivery processes, “win win” commercial strategies and avoidance of disputes, creation of market leading professional standards and exceptional performance. Marcus’ responsibilities cover the Commercial team activities.
Clive has been working in the steel construction industry for 30 years and specialised in cold formed structures following his graduation from the University of Warwick. In his early career he worked as a Structural Engineer designing medium rise steel framed buildings. He became a Chartered Engineer in December 2000 following successful election to Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers. During his career he has held a number of senior positions including Operations Director and Technical Director. Throughout he has worked at the forefront of technology for loadbearing cold formed steel structures including structural, fire, acoustic and thermal performance. Clive has a young family which more or less absorbs his time away from the office.
Nick Milestone, our Operations Director, brings over 35 years' experience in the UK Offsite construction industry to the role. He has successfully developed a number of offsite structural solutions using a multitude of components, including light gauge steel. Nick has delivered over 500 landmark projects for Blue Chip clients across the residential, education, leisure, commercial and retail sectors.
Prior to his appointment at Sigmat, Nick was the Director and Head of Integration for Mass Timber and Hybrid Off-Site Solutions for Katerra Inc, North America and previously Director for Offsite and Innovation for the Wm Hare Group (UK, UAE and Singapore) developing building systems in Structural Steel and load bearing Light Gauge Steel structures. Nick also enjoyed a long career at Bowmer & Kirkland from 2002 to 2017 and was the Managing Director of B & K Structures Ltd, the UK’s largest structural steel and mass timber design and construction business.
In his spare time Nick enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.
Anthony joined Sigmat in 2010 following a two year stint in the Structural Engineering department at WYG. Graduating from Newcastle University with a Masters in Civil & Structural Engineering, Anthony has a wealth of experience in LGSF having personally designed over 20 LGSF buildings varying from 1 storey to 12 storeys right across the UK including Byron House Nottingham, the only LGSF frame that has an intentional leaning façade and subsequently announced as winner of the RICS Project of the Year.
Anthony now manages the Sigmat design team, split across three sites in the UK, heavily focused on successful delivery of high specification LGSF projects and transfer structures.
Anthony has a young family and spends every spare moment, weekend or evening, renovating his house.
Sarah commenced working for Sigmat in 2011 following the completion of her Masters in Civil & Structural Engineering at the University of Newcastle. Joining the team in the Evesham office as Graduate Design Engineer Sarah has since designed countless Sigmat structures across student accommodation, hotel, residential and retirement living.
In 2019 Sarah moved into the role of Principal R&D Engineer leading Sigmat through new innovations. In recognition of her longstanding dedication and contribution, Sarah was appointed the role of Design Director South and latterly Design Director for the whole of the Company, to support and lead the continued evolution of Sigmat and meet our growing workloads.
Sarah has a young family and recently spent time fully renovating their home.
Jon joined Sigmat in 2020. He is a graduate manufacturing systems engineer with 27 years of experience. While he has worked in manufacturing companies in a variety of sectors, most of his career has been spent within the automotive industry, manufacturing and assembling steering and suspension components for customers including Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, BMW and Ford.
His experience has been centred around lean production systems and continuous improvement. He is using this to enhance the existing Sigmat manufacturing capabilities.
Jon is married and has three grown-up children. When not at work he enjoys the outdoor life, particularly cycling, walking and spending time in the garden.
Drawing Office Director
Mat joined Sigmat as Drawing Office Manager in 2017 leading the team in our Skipton office. In recognition of his four successful years managing the Northern drawing offices, Mat was appointed the role of Drawing Office Director in January 2021, assuming responsibility for detailing across our 4 offices and supporting the business’s wider growth plans.
Graduate in Civil Engineering, Mat has an impressive 20+ year career in structural steel detailing and has been involved in various large scale projects across all sectors in both the UK and US, including steel frames up to 4000 Tonnes. A number of his projects were also proudly presented Tekla awards for detailing.
Mat is an avid car enthusiast and is currently restoring a classic Alfa Romeo. Aside from cars he enjoys walking, football and spending time with his family.
