A new five storey, 127 bedroom Travelodge hotel utilising Sigmat offsite load bearing light gauge steel framing is helping to give an economic boost to the business and leisure offerings in the city of Lincoln.
Sigmat were appointed by main contractor RG Carter to York based developers S Harrison who purchased land in Tentercroft Street from the city of Lincoln Council on the East-West link road, close to the High Street, the railway station and the new transport hub currently under construction.
Works have commenced onsite creating 50 construction jobs and 15-20 internal jobs at the hotel when it opens later this year.
On the ground floor there will be a main entrance, reception, breakfast area and cafe bar as well as external parking.
Light Gauge steel framing is an ideal solution for projects of this type. We have a proven track record in the hotel sector and we are close to double figures for the number of projects competed so far for the Travelodge brand. By manufacturing and assembling the panels offsite in readiness for a rapid onsite installation, we ensure that the project can get off to a flying start in terms of the final build. We will project manage everything associated with the installation of the frame, working closely with the Construction team at RG Carter to enable them to commence with follow-on trades at their earliest opportunity. For this particular project, a 12 month build programme has been set.
The centre of Lincoln is short of good quality, great value hotel accommodation and the new Travelodge will provide this in a great location for both business and leisure visitors to the city.
Lincoln is a fascinating Cathedral city that attracts plenty of tourists, and it is also a great place to do business. It’s an incredibly exciting time for Lincoln with such major investment in this central area in particular, and we are proud to play our part in helping to bring Travelodge to the city.
